When a client recently asked if his website could be hosted from within the EC2 London postcode area, my response was immediate, ‘I shouldn’t think that will be too much hassle’, much to my clients surprise…

Much to my surprise too, its not that straightforward!

There are indeed many hosts physically located in that part of London, but their data centers are spread far and wide.

This post will grow over time, and for now is where I’ll store some of my findings;

www.datacentermap.com/united-kingdom/london/

Data Center Map is a free web service acting as the link between providers and clients in the data center industry, making it easier for clients to find potential providers matching their needs. The service focuses on colocation and IP transit, but also covers a lot of other data center services such as wholesale space, dedicated servers, remote hands, internet exchanges and much more.

Hosts that don’t quite fit the requirement include;

www.epsilontel.com
www.iomarthosting.com
Venus Internet

- http://www.city-lifeline.co.uk/
- – http://www.pro-net.co.uk/
- – - http://www.goscomb.net/ (Dan – could change RIPS object)

Questions;

Don’t forget to ask about;

- IMAP support
- Seamlessly expanding
- VPS firewall control
- standard shared hosting capability

2011 has been a year of changes at Google, as there were revision and tweaks to algorithms all through, as well as many updates that were aimed at refining the user experience and increasing user loyalty towards Google, which as we can see has been duly rewarded for its efforts, as it became most sought after web destination in 2011. December 2011, saw Google add another set of 30 updates to its algorithms (in addition to the 10 at the start of the month) to help users find the best results on the net and each comes with its own code names for easy remembrance.

A cookie, also known as a web cookie, browser cookie, and HTTP cookie, is a piece of text stored on a user’s computer by their web browser. A cookie can be used to ‘remember’ you, it can store your site preferences, shopping cart contents or any other useful data which the website can recall the next time a person using that computer visits the site.

What’s changing?

On May 26th 2011 a new EU originated law came into effect that requires website owners to make significant changes to their sites and may fundamentally change the whole web browsing and shopping experience for everybody.

Since launching Ideas by Eden a number of years ago, I’ve had to from time to time wear many different hats, but one of my favourite is my search engine optimisation, or SEO, hat.

Like most of the services I provide, there are hundreds of other local Cambridge based businesses that provide similar services, but the successful consultants usually have a unique selling point; mine being my willingness and ability to provide a full suite of SEO services, including;

Advanced – this is where I look after everything from beginning to end…
The advanced SEO service includes keyword research, identification and analysis, a complete copywriting service, implementation of the SEO changes to your website, ongoing monitoring and analysis and advanced reporting.

Intermediate – provision of specialist areas…
I split SEO into three areas; research, implementation and review. The intermediate service covers the areas where my clients don’t have the time or skills necessary, but is completely flexible, I do what you don’t want to!

Training
For clients that don’t have the budget to outsource their SEO requirements, I’m happy to provide the necessary training which will enable them to quickly and easily implement their own SEO, assuming they have a content management system for their website.

In brief, however simple or advanced your SEO requirements are, I can help!

I launched Hostbridge recently to provide a website and email hosting service for SME’s, specifically those that understand the importance of having a reliable hosting service, but don’t have the expertise or knowhow to manage and maintain this critical process themselves.

The USP of Hostbridge is the ability to move website and email services without ANY DOWNTIME, which is a time consuming process but one at which we have mastered and packaged up as a service. Clients that use this service are often in the process of moving between website developers, or looking to move to more reliable or cost effective service providers.

There aren’t many Cambridge-based service providers, not many at all that will visit your offices to discuss your services and requirements.

Hostbridge is a small team of hosting specialists that act as consultants to make sure that clients online services are managed effectively using a range of internet service providers including the major and common players; RackSpace, 123Reg, Namesco, Easily, NetBenefit, Schlund, 1&1 and hundreds more.
