Aviemore, Scotland

It was February 2009 – Severe weather warnings across the whole of the UK, schools closed all week, temperatures dropping to -17 degrees (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7878143.stm <http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7878143.stm), motorists stuck on motorways overnight down-south and accidents and roadside recovery at an all time high.
The chances of driving the 550 miles from Cambridge to Aviemore overnight for some fresh powder seemed limited…
